Dowina Guitars, based in Bratislava, Slovakia are a family based business that support sustainability from source. They are a small but friendly team with a passion for making hand crafted guitars. We were very proud to be able to visit the Dowina workshop in late 2019 to meet the team and absorb their company ethos, of which making wood 'shine' is their absolute goal. Dowina's designs are humble and organic, and their method of building the guitar to the wood chosen results in each instrument truly becoming a unique work of art.
The Pantheon Series are all handmade in Slovakia by the Dowina team, created with the same design philosophy as master violin work. Fully solid wood combined with superior tonewood selection – individual gradation of thickness of the top in specific areas to allow more flex near the edges hence gaining a deeper and more detailed tone. Each top has discrete bracing to tonally match its characteristics and each top is individually fine tuned to basic harmonic tones
The Ceres is the most advanced guitar of the all-solid Pantheon series, and this specific one features the parlour sized Bona Vida body shape, consisting of an exotic Indian Rosewood back and sides. This tone-wood is known for its balanced acoustic quality, beautiful structure, and full colour. Combine this with the a USA Dolomite Spruce top and you have a classic combination providing a rich tonal palette. Beautiful details such as the Wenge reinforcement set into the mahogany neck, the ebony bridge & fingerboard and open pore finish further highlights the craftsmanship that goes into these guitars.
