The Japanese craftspeople of FGN Guitars have managed to craft a contemporary-style electric guitar where sleek looks are combined with high playing comfort: meet the J-Standard Series Iliad. Thanks to the unique Circle Fretting System (C.F.S.), the strings run over the frets at a 90-degree angle, ensuring each string makes as little contact with the frets as possible. As a result, the Iliad packs superb note articulation and ample mix-cutting potential.
Another important feature here is the compound fretboard radius, which runs from 250mm at the headstock to 350mm near the body. In other words, the neck gets flatter as you make your way down the fretboard, clearing the way for both comfortable chord-grabbing and fast lead parts. On the back of the Iliad, FGN have incorporated yet another comfort-enhancing feature in the form of a belly-cut, which makes sure the guitar feels nice and snug against your body while you sling riffs.
The ash body comes loaded with two pickups from industry giant, Seymour Duncan. The Vintage '54 Tele STL-1 at the bridge and the Seymour Duncan STR-52-1 combine with a 4-way switch for a huge range of possible sounds so, whether you're into outlaw country or jazz-funk, this Japanese axe has got you covered. To finish, there's the set of stable vintage-style Gotoh tuners and the brass-saddle fixed bridge that work together to keep the tuning stable, and FGN Guitars include a matching gig bag with the Iliad so you can keep yours looking shop-fresh.
