Philip Mason Guitars No. 14 – Swiss Walnut / Spruce Auditorium
Handmade in Switzerland
The Philip Mason No. 14 is an elegant auditorium model built with sustainably sourced Swiss tonewoods and a slightly shorter 24.9” (632.5 mm) scale for a comfortable, responsive feel. The soundboard is crafted from FSC torrefied Swiss Alpine spruce (Picea abies), offering excellent sensitivity and a mature tonal character. Paired with FSC Swiss walnut (Juglans regina) back and sides, the result is a clear, balanced voice with strong note definition and natural warmth.
A Swiss cherry (Prunus avium) neck is matched with an East Indian rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) fingerboard and bridge, while tasteful appointments include abalone fretboard dots, bone nut and saddle, and bone bridge pins with abalone inlay. Internally, torrefied Alpine spruce bracing enhances responsiveness, and Schertler Acoustic chrome tuners ensure smooth, stable tuning.
