NU-X Fireman Dual-Channel High-Gain Distortion Pedal

The NU-X Fireman is a high-gain distortion pedal from the Verdugo series, designed to emulate heavily modded amplifiers and deliver saturated, compressed "brown sound" tones. Two independent footswitches handle effect on/off and channel switching between two separate sets of Gain and Volume controls, effectively giving you a dedicated rhythm and lead distortion in a single unit. Both switches can also be operated remotely via a rear jack input.

Four tone-shaping controls — Bass, Treble, Presence, and Tight — let you dial in the frequency content precisely. A rear-mounted voltage switch multiplies the internal voltage from 9V to 18V when engaged, increasing headroom and dynamic range for a more open, responsive feel at high gain settings.

This pedal is nothing short of phenomenal for the modern high-gain player, I wasn't too sure what to think of this pedal when I first opened the box as this was one of the first NU-X pedals I had demoed and without even plugging it in, you can feel the build quality in the rugged metal casing and the weight of the pedal.

Within the first few notes a few key things stuck out to me, first, the quality of the distortion was fantastic, with brilliant dynamic response and the tone was already making me feel like I wanted to play more, the last may seem like it's not important or objective, but I've become quite picky with distortions overtime and I give a lot of credit to the 'fun' factor - does this pedal make me enjoy the guitar more? - if the answer is yes, which it was in this case, it's an obvious sign it's a great pedal for you.

The main thing that made me really want this pedal was the pick attack and definition, check out our demo if you haven't already to hear it for yourself, each note picked had this incredible oomph behind it, which elevated any fast picking lines, the little etude I played in the demo is a perfect example of what I'm referring to.

It can do lighter gain settings well also, but I highly recommend this for any rock & metal players out there, I'm more of a fusion guy who loves good distortions and wouldn't hesitate to have this on my board.
