Philip Mason Guitars No. 13 – Swiss Maple / Spruce Jumbo
Handmade in Switzerland
The Philip Mason No. 13 is a striking jumbo acoustic built entirely around sustainably sourced Swiss tonewoods. Featuring an FSC Swiss Alpine spruce (Picea abies) soundboard and beautifully figured FSC Swiss flamed maple back and sides, this guitar offers clarity, headroom, and strong note separation with the projection you’d expect from a jumbo body. Internally, torrefied Swiss Alpine spruce bracing enhances responsiveness and tonal maturity.
The neck is carved from matching FSC Swiss flamed maple, paired with an East Indian rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) fingerboard and bridge. Appointments include rosewood binding, heel cap, and tail graft, mother of pearl fretboard dots, and rosewood bridge pins with mother of pearl inlay. A bone nut and saddle, 2-way truss rod, and premium Schertler Acoustic Gold machine heads complete this elegant and performance-focused build.
