Maybach Guitars was founded in 2011 with a commitment to building instruments of the highest quality in Europe. Alongside its Standard and Classic production lines, the Maybach Custom Shop Masterbuilt operation in Wuppertal, Germany produces individual one-off instruments and strictly limited small series, designed and built by luthier Nick Page and a hand-selected team of builders.
The Convair is a Nick Page original design — a Les Paul-format guitar with a distinctive industrial aesthetic. The 2-piece mahogany body features a Florentine cutaway, pearl celluloid binding, and an aluminium pickguard. The slotted headstock and aluminium pickup covers contribute to the guitar's raw, singular appearance. The finish is Black Onyx Aged nitrocellulose. Despite its appearance, the Convair is a highly resonant instrument with a wide tonal range from clean to driven.
The mahogany neck has a rounded C profile and is paired with an ebony fingerboard with white binding and pearl block inlays. A Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece handle intonation and string anchoring. Two Amber Spirit of '59 humbuckers are controlled by 2 volume / 2 tone and a 3-way toggle switch. Nut width is 43mm, scale length 630mm (24 13/16"). Weight: 3.64kg.
