From the very beginning, Maybach had written on its flag not only to manufacture instruments of the best possible quality but to implement this consistently with the promise of 'Made in Europe'. This vision had been developed over three years of intensive preparation. It was successfully turned into reality when the Maybach ship set sail in 2011 and quickly set its course – driven by a wind of enthusiasm sparked by the many musicians thrilled by the quality of Maybach instruments.
Maybach guitars have 3 production lines, the Standard, Classic and Masterbuilt series, with custom shop pieces tying into the Masterbuilt category. At the Maybach Custom Shop Masterbuilt in Wuppertal/Germany, individual one-off instruments and strictly limited small series are designed and built by Nick Page and a hand-selected team of guitar builders. This piece is one of those custom builds.
Introducing the Maybach Custom Shop Convair! A groundbreaking guitar designed in-house by the acclaimed luthier Nick Page. With a distinctive raw appearance, this Maybach boasts a 2-piece mahogany body featuring a florentine cutaway. The hefty neck, adorned with an intriguing slotted headstock, and aluminium covers contribute to its unique aesthetic, complemented by intricate pickup covers and an aged black finish. Despite its tough, steampunky look, the Convair is surprisingly resonant, delivering a versatile performance from rocking tones to beautiful cleans.
