Description
Description
The MXR Layers Pedal generates rich, organic sustain across up to three independent layers, each with its own mini LED indicator. It's equally capable of extending single notes into droning accompaniments or building complex, multi-layered soundscapes with stereo pads, harmonic ensembles, and ambient textures — all from a standard MXR housing.
Layers can be triggered two ways: hold the footswitch while playing a note or chord and release to let it fade, or set the Trig knob to auto-trigger new layers based on your pick attack intensity. Combine both methods for more complex sound stacking — hold a layer with the footswitch and auto-trigger additional layers over the top. The Single switch limits playback to one layer at a time when you want a simpler approach.
Core controls include Mix (wet signal level), Trig (auto-trigger sensitivity), Attack (layer fade-in time), and Decay (fade-out time, with high frequencies decaying first to mimic natural string vibration). A Sub Oct switch drops one or more layers down an octave for a deeper, subterranean character.
For deeper customisation, programmable parameters include modulation intensity, delay time, and diffusion. External control options include a keyboard sustain pedal or off-board switch for triggering layers, expression pedal input for blending configurations, and Stereo Input, Stereo Output, and Dry/Wet Split modes.
